The Big Albion
In November 2017 we took delivery of an early, A2+ sized Albion relief press.

It was bought from a shed in Canterbury, and beautifully restored by Giles Hovenden (AMR) and Mike Kirby (Linecasting Machinery Ltd). They also delivered and installed it down some challenging steps and a tight doorway.

The press is slightly taller than the studio, so we now have a neat hole in the ceiling to accommodate the rising bolt at the top of the press! It looks like it's always been there.

We were sad to lose one small 1873 (No 3135) Albion at the same time. It's gone to a good home with Victoria Keeble, in Stamford, Lincs.
​
The new Medium Albion will print an image larger than A2 (18"x24") onto a bed measuring up to 21.5"x28", though the paper can be larger than this if necessary.
​
It was an early Albion of this size, built in the mid 19C by Hopkinson and Cope. It spent some years in Barton Court Girls school, Canterbury before belonging to Mr Jackson, who ran the printing club there.
